Comprehensive Stool Testing
A comprehensive stool test evaluates several key aspects of gut health, including:
- Digestive function – Is the person properly breaking down and absorbing food?
- Inflammation – Is there inflammation present, and if so, what type?
- Postbiotic metabolites – Levels of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by the microbiome, which support gut and immune health.
- Microbial balance – Presence of beneficial and harmful bacteria, parasites, and yeast.
- Total bacterial load – Low levels may indicate insufficient postbiotic production. High levels may suggest large intestinal bacterial overgrowth (LIBO), often linked to low stomach acid or poor digestion.
Once functional imbalances and digestive and microbiome deficiencies have been identified, they can be successfully treated, and the microbiome can be properly fed to maximize digestive health.
